The Lincoln Memorial University-College of Dental Medicine (LMU-CDM) will host the Give Kids a Smile program Thursday, Feb. 13, offering free dental care and oral health education to children with limited access to dental services.
Give Kids a Smile is a nationwide initiative led by the American Dental Association that brings together dental professionals, students and community partners to address oral health needs among underserved children. The event at LMU is being held in partnership with the American Dental Association, the Second District Dental Society and Head Start.
LMU College of Dental Medicine students and faculty, along with licensed dental professionals, will provide a range of preventive and educational services, including X-rays, cleanings, patient education, extractions and fillings.
“When dental problems go untreated, they can affect a child’s ability to learn, sleep and thrive,” said Michelle Walker, associate dean for faculty and students at LMU-CDM. “Give Kids a Smile is more than dental care. It’s about putting children on a path toward better health, confidence and success.”
The event marks the third consecutive year LMU-CDM has participated in the initiative and reflects the university’s broader mission to serve regional health needs through education, service and community engagement.
