Lincoln Memorial University-School of Medical Sciences (LMU-SMS) has promoted Madison Gobbell to director of assessment for the Physician Assistant (PA) program in Harrogate.

Gobbell brings nearly a decade of clinical expertise, a strong background in medical education, and a deep commitment to student success to her new leadership role.

A 2016 graduate of the Harrogate PA program, Gobbell began her career in North Carolina, practicing in reproductive endocrinology and infertility before discovering a passion for oncology. She later transitioned to radiation oncology, where she cared for patients facing complex cancer diagnoses. Her work in survivorship care and patient education became a defining part of her clinical career and sparked her interest in shaping the next generation of clinicians.

In 2020, she earned her Doctor of Medical Science (DMS) from LMU with a focus in medical education—an accomplishment that strengthened her dedication to academic excellence and evidence-based practice. Gobbell joined the PA faculty in Harrogate soon after, calling the opportunity to serve her alma mater a meaningful milestone in her professional journey.

As director of assessment, Gobbell will oversee evaluation processes across the program, ensuring data-driven curriculum improvements, continuous quality enhancement, and alignment with ARC-PA standards. Her combined clinical insight and educational experience position her to make a significant impact on student learning outcomes and program advancement.

Established in 2019, the School of Medical Sciences (LMU-SMS) is home to LMU’s PA program with a primary care focus at the main campus in Harrogate, Tennessee, a PA program with a surgical focus at LMU-Knoxville, the online Doctor of Medical Science (DMS) program, and the Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) program. The school supports the University’s mission of service to Appalachia and other underserved areas by maintaining high quality medical education and supporting student success.
