Lawrence Promoted to Program Director for the LMU Physician Assistant Program in Tampa

Lincoln Memorial University-School of Medical Sciences (LMU-SMS) is pleased to announce the promotion of Paul Lawrence as program director for the Physician Assistant (PA) program in Tampa, Florida.

Lawrence, an alumnus of the Harrogate PA program’s Class of 2013, brings more than a decade of clinical and academic experience to this leadership role. He began his career as a hospitalist in Kingsport and Bristol, Tennessee, while also serving as an adjunct professor for the LMU–Harrogate PA program and precepting students from multiple PA programs across the region.

After seven years in clinical practice, Lawrence transitioned into full-time PA education, joining Gannon University’s PA program in Ruskin, Florida, in 2020. During his tenure at Gannon, he served as course director for physiology, pathophysiology, clinical medicine, problem-based medicine, and capstone courses, significantly shaping the education of aspiring health care professionals.

Lawrence returned to LMU in July 2023 as assistant professor and principal faculty for the LMU–Tampa PA program, contributing to the development and growth of the University’s newest PA program. He completed his Doctor of Medical Science degree from LMU in 2024, specializing in medical education.
