The Lincoln Memorial University-Carter and Moyers School of Education (LMU-CMSOE) has been ranked the No. 1 Master’s in Education program in Tennessee by MastersInEducation.org, a national platform that evaluates graduate-level teacher education programs across the U.S.
The 2025 ranking highlights LMU’s wide range of graduate education degrees, including tracks in Educational and Instructional Leadership, Instructional Practice, Special Education, Elementary Education, and multiple Initial Teacher Licensure programs. Designed for working educators and career changers, LMU’s Master of Education offerings are available in flexible online and hybrid formats. Programs include options for licensure in elementary, secondary, K–12 visual arts, and special education interventionist roles, with embedded clinical practice, licensure pathways, and preparation for required assessments such as the PRAXIS and edTPA. These offerings support both experienced teachers pursuing endorsements and individuals entering the profession through alternative routes.
“This recognition reflects our continued commitment to supporting Tennessee’s education workforce,” said Dr. Chessica Cave, interim dean of LMU-CMSOE. “We are proud to offer high-quality, accessible programs that prepare educators to lead and serve in areas where they’re needed most.”
With over 4,400 teaching positions unfilled across the state for the 2024–25 school year, LMU’s M.Ed. programs help address critical shortages by preparing graduates for roles such as instructional coach, reading specialist, and classroom teacher across high-need content areas and grade levels.
All programs are regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), and the LMU-CMSOE is fully approved by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
