Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) honored two of its longest-serving and most influential staff members by dedicating the newly named Honeycutt and Laws Operations Complex at LMU Park.
The complex was named in recognition of Dexter Honeycutt, director of facilities and construction management, and David Laws, vice president of facilities planning, management, and safety services. Both have played pivotal roles in LMU’s campus growth, infrastructure expansion, and operational excellence over several decades.
Honeycutt, whose family has worked at LMU for three generations, has led construction and facilities projects across the university’s sites in Harrogate, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Lexington, Orange Park and Tampa. His in-house leadership and vision have saved the university millions while helping transform LMU’s physical footprint.
“Dexter Honeycutt is a visionary when it comes to construction,” said LMU President Jason McConnell. “The campus we see today is in many ways a reflection of his foresight, dedication, and unmatched skill.”
Laws began his LMU career in 1979 and has since become a foundational figure in university operations. Earning his LMU degree in 2011, he has overseen decades of advancement in infrastructure, safety and facilities planning.
“David Laws is more than just a tremendous resource—he is part of the very fabric of Lincoln Memorial University,” said McConnell. “His institutional knowledge, calm leadership and generosity of spirit have shaped this university for the better.”
The dedication ceremony, held at LMU Park, featured remarks by McConnell and Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Autry O.V. “Pete” DeBusk, followed by a plaque unveiling honoring Honeycutt and Laws.
The event was part of LMU’s Homecoming celebration, which took place on Saturday, Oct. 11, and included additional dedications, award presentations, and alumni gatherings across campus.
