Jared Estate Provides over $1.5 million to Support LMU Veterinary Student

CVM Harrogate

Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) has received a transformative estate gift valued at over $1.5 million, along with a 144-acre property and home in Oliver Springs, Tennessee, from the late Donald and Maggie (Meg) Jared. The donation will support students of the LMU-Richard A. Gillespie College of Veterinary Medicine (LMU-CVM).

Don and Meg Jared
Longtime residents of Oliver Springs, Don and Meg Jared shared a deep love for animals and nature. Their home was a peaceful refuge for birds and local wildlife — a reflection of their lifelong commitment to conservation and the natural world. That commitent led them to connect with LMU-CVM, where they saw an opportunity to help aspiring veterinarians pursue their passion.

"We are profoundly grateful for this gift," said Dr. Frank Woodward, vice president for University Advancement. "The generosity of the Jared family is an investment in the future of veterinary education, and it will make a significant difference for students at LMU-CVM."

Don Jared passed away on December 25, 2024, at the age of 91. Meg followed just three weeks later at the age of 88.

“Though deeply missed, their legacy will live on through the lives and careers of the students their generosity will support,” Woodward added.
