Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) has received an additional $500,000 gift from the estate of alumna Inez Stiner, Class of 1953, further strengthening the Inez and James B. Stiner Endowed Scholarship. With this final distribution, total contributions from the Stiner family now surpass $2.4 million.
The scholarship was originally established in 2005 by Inez’s brother, James Stiner, to expand access to higher education for students in the East Tennessee region. James Stiner contributed more than $1 million through his estate. Inez later increased the scholarship’s impact by designating support through a trust, which has now provided $1.4 million in total gifts to the fund, including this latest contribution.
“Inez and James believed the best way to honor their family’s legacy was to invest in students from East Tennessee,” said Vice President for University Advancement Frank Woodward. “They understood the life-changing power of education and wanted to make sure future generations would have the same opportunities they did.”
