Jena West with Drs. Stacy Anderson and Randy Evans

The Lincoln Memorial University-Richard A. Gillespie College of Veterinary Medicine (LMU-CVM) presented Jena West, MPH, LVMT, VTS (Cardiology), with the Randy Evans Veterinary Medical Technology Merit Award during the university’s Homecoming festivities.

The award, established by LMU-CVM in 2024, recognizes outstanding professional achievements by graduates of the university’s Veterinary Medical Technology (VMT) program.

West began her journey at LMU in 1995 on both cheerleading and academic scholarships, earning her degree in Veterinary Technology. She later earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a Master of Public Health with a concentration in veterinary medicine from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. West has worked at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine (UTCVM) for more than 19 years. In 2019, she became the first Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) in Cardiology in the state of Tennessee.

Her leadership experience includes serving as president and treasurer of the Tennessee Veterinary Technicians Association, as well as a member of the UTCVM Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and Career Advancement Committee. She was also inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success in 2022.

“We are extremely proud of Jena and the impact she has made on veterinary technology in her career so far,” said Dr. Randy Evans, associate dean of career services and professional development and former director of the Veterinary Medical Technology program. “We look forward to seeing how she continues to inspire veterinary medicine and technology students and advance the professions.”
