Metz Completes Executive Leadership Institute for Higher Education Leaders

Dr. Kelsey Metz

Dr. Kelsey Metz, dean of the Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) School of Business, has completed the Tennessee Independent Colleges and Universities Association (TICUA) Executive Leadership Institute (ELI), a leadership development program designed to prepare senior campus officials for executive roles in higher education.

Metz was nominated for the 2024-2025 cohort by Dr. Jay Stubblefield, LMU executive vice president for academic affairs. As a selected Pressnell Fellow, she joined senior administrators from institutions across the state for a nine-month series of immersive sessions focused on leadership growth, institutional strategy, and values-based decision-making.

“Participating in the TICUA Executive Leadership Institute was a transformative experience that deepened my understanding of institutional strategy, higher education policy, and values-based leadership,” Metz said. “The opportunity to engage with senior leaders across Tennessee broadened my perspective and strengthened my commitment to mission-driven leadership at Lincoln Memorial University.”

The Institute, hosted monthly at TICUA member campuses, brings together experts and sitting university presidents to mentor participants. Fellows examine a range of topics including advocacy, communications, conflict resolution, and ethical leadership, all through the lens of private higher education.

Now in its seventh year, the Executive Leadership Institute has contributed to the advancement of leaders across Tennessee, with alumni assuming presidential and senior administrative roles at institutions including Bryan College, Johnson University, and Lee University.

“I am very pleased that Dr. Metz had the opportunity to represent LMU in this outstanding program,” said Stubblefield. “The School of Business and our institution, at large, will benefit from the relationships she has forged and leadership lessons learned.”
