Carter and Moyers School of Education Faculty Present at NFEC

Foster and Wagner

Faculty from the Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) Carter and Moyers School of Education, Dr. Karen Foster, professor and director of assessment and accreditation, and Dr. Susan Wagner, associate professor and director of MEdITL, presented two sessions at the National Field Experience Conference (NFEC) in Nacogdoches, Texas.

The two presentations titled “Support and Training for Mentors:  Partnerships That Recruit, Support, and Recognize Mentor Teachers" and "Strategic Staffing Partnerships:  Examining Effective Practices for Supporting Clinical Practice Candidates Throughout the Clinical Residency" focused on the importance of building strong collaborative partnerships with local districts that support mentors, teachers and candidates enrolled in teacher and instructional leadership licensure programs.  The sessions showcased research and methods for recruiting and retaining candidates through various licensure pathways, such as job-embedded, 2 plus 2, clinical practice, and traditional student teaching.

The conference, hosted by Stephen F. Austin State University, aimed to share information, practices, policies, and research relating to teacher candidates’ experiences in school settings. Presentations covered the preparation, supervision and evaluation of teacher candidates, with an emphasis on their knowledge, skills and dispositions.
