LMU-CVM Announces Phi Zeta Research Day Winners

The Lincoln Memorial University-Richard A. Gillespie College of Veterinary Medicine (LMU-CVM) recently hosted its annual Research Day, a showcase of student-led projects that reflect the college’s commitment to academic excellence, scientific advancement and veterinary innovation.

 

This year’s event featured 36 research presentations from 45 student participants, with several students contributing to more than one project. The program highlighted research in three categories: One Health, Biomedical & Life Sciences, and Education. Projects spanned topics from interdisciplinary approaches to animal and human health, to educational strategies in veterinary training.

 

Award winners in each category include:

One Health

  • 1st Place (tie): Renee Hartzog
  • 1st Place (tie): Ryann Lockwood, Alexandria Cruz
  • 3rd Place: Rebecca Randell

Biomedical & Life Sciences

  • 1st Place: Kathryn Hall
  • 2nd Place: Alexandra Gregory, Gianna Palmieri
  • 3rd Place (tie): Marielys Gutierrez, Haley Green, Ryann Lockwood
  • 3rd Place (tie): Gianna Palmieri, Alexandria Gregory

Education

  • 1st Place (tie): Winter Bruggeworth
  • 1st Place (tie): Kensey Smartt
  • 3rd Place: Natalie Trantham

 

The event was held on March 10 on LMU’s main campus in Harrogate, offering students an opportunity to present findings to peers, faculty, and professionals in the veterinary field. The presentations were evaluated by a panel of faculty judges and guest reviewers, all experts in their respective disciplines.

LMU-CVM continues to promote a culture of inquiry and evidence-based practice, preparing students to lead in veterinary medicine and related scientific areas.
