Faculty members from the Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) School of Business presented research on experiential learning at the Region 3 Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs Conference in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Drs. Kelsey Metz, Petra Brnova, Joy Williams, April Anderson and Aaron Fraustro presented “The C.O.R.E. Concept: Enhancing Entrepreneurship Organizations Through Student-Led Consulting.” Their presentation highlighted LMU’s Club of Railsplitter Entrepreneurs (C.O.R.E.) organization that provides business students with hands-on learning opportunities through consulting projects with small and medium-sized local businesses.

“As a university in a remote location, we must maintain strong relationships with local businesses to provide meaningful experiential learning opportunities for our students,” said Metz, dean of the School of Business. “C.O.R.E. allows students to apply academic theories in real-world business scenarios while supporting local entrepreneurs.”

A recent C.O.R.E. consulting project with Servolution, a nonprofit health care provider, resulted in a comprehensive, cost-effective marketing plan to expand community outreach. The project led Servolution to offer a student internship to help implement the marketing strategies developed during the collaboration.

Drs. Schneider, Cox, and Lane also presented “Bridging the Gap: Transforming Experiential Learning with Virtual Reality.” Their research explored how virtual reality (VR) enhances student engagement and knowledge retention in business education. The team shared insights from LMU’s partnership with BodySwaps, a VR lab initiative designed to develop students' employability skills.
