Dr. Julie Hunt Named NAP Distinguished Fellow

Lincoln Memorial University-Richard A. Gillespie College of Veterinary Medicine (LMU-CVM) proudly announces that Dr. Julie Hunt, associate dean for Clinical Sciences has been honored with Distinguished Fellow status by the National Academies of Practice (NAP).

The NAP, a distinguished non-profit organization comprised of members from fourteen health professions, including veterinarians, is dedicated to fostering interprofessional collaboration and advocating for governmental policies that serve the best interests of individuals and communities. Annually, the NAP bestows the esteemed title of Distinguished Fellow upon health care professionals who have demonstrated remarkable achievements in interprofessional practice for a minimum of ten years.

Hunt's exemplary interprofessional endeavors encompass numerous research collaborations and impactful work with underserved communities in West Africa, benefiting both humans and animals. She actively engages with various health professions as a Fellow of the Association of Medical Educators in Europe (AMEE), a diverse consortium of health care educators. Additionally, Hunt serves as an associate editor for AMEE's prestigious online journal, MedEdPublish. Notably, her recent contribution of a book chapter on simulation in veterinary medicine to the second edition of "Defining Excellence in Simulation Programs" underscores her dedication to advancing interdisciplinary knowledge sharing.

"I am deeply honored to receive this distinction and to join the esteemed ranks of the NAP,” Hunt said. “While it is natural for veterinarians and educators to focus primarily on their own fields, this award underscores the significance of my interprofessional work in research, health care organizations, and international outreach to underserved populations."
