Dr. Jacob Carver Appointed Assistant Vice President for Accreditation
Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs R. Jay Stubblefield, PhD, has appointed Dr. Jacob Carver as the assistant vice president for accreditation.
A member of the LMU academic community since 2014, Carver first served the J. Frank White Academy as an instructor, school counselor and coach while also serving as an adjunct instructor for the Carter and Moyers School of Education. He moved into the LMU Division of Academic Affairs in 2021, serving as an institutional research and accreditation associate. Carver was promoted to the director of institutional research and accreditation in 2022.
After his latest promotion, Carver will provide leadership in support of LMU’s accreditation and state licensure activities. He will oversee the planning, coordination and monitoring of reporting and assessment efforts that support the university’s ongoing institutional and programmatic accreditation processes, including continually monitoring compliance with accreditation standards as well as ensuring efficiency in collecting and analyzing needed data.
“Dr. Carver has played an integral role in accreditation activities at LMU and is well-qualified for these additional responsibilities,” Stubblefield said. “While accreditation is often overlooked, it is a vital function for the University. Dr. Carver’s tireless effort on behalf of his alma mater ensures future LMU students will receive the best education.”
In addition to the global, University-wide accreditation work, Carver also will collaborate with college and school deans and program directors to ensure timely submission of programmatic accreditation reports and preparation for required visits.
Carver has assisted with the submission of approximately 35 successful substantive changes to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) on behalf of LMU. Furthermore, he has served as an institutional effectiveness reviewer on an SACSCOC off-site reaffirmation committee. Carver has represented LMU at the 2023-2024 Tennessee Independent Colleges and Universities Association (TICUA) Executive Leadership Institute and presented at the Southern Association for Institutional Research, Tennessee Association for Institutional Research and Appalachian College Association annual meetings on topics related to assessment, strategic planning and substantive change.
A four-time graduate of LMU, Carver has earned Doctor of Education in curriculum and instruction, Educational Specialist in instructional leadership, Master of Education in School Counseling and Bachelor of Science in interdisciplinary studies in human learning and development degrees. He was valedictorian of the Class of 2012 and was honored as the 2016 LMU Young Alumnus of the Year.
Carver began his career as a middle school mathematics instructor at Forge Ridge School in the Claiborne County School system, serving from 2012 until 2014.
A native of Oneida, Tennessee, Carver and his wife, Carissa, now reside in Harrogate with their son, Jacoby.
