Cloran Inducted Into LMU Professional Hall of Fame

Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) is pleased to announce the induction of Winifred Cloran, Class of 1973, into the LMU Professional Hall of Fame.

Cloran received a degree in physical education from LMU and taught in her hometown of Liverpool, Ohio, for five years following graduation. But the call for adventure was great, so she left the classroom for the corporate world and the rest is history.

Cloran has held numerous positions in the travel industry. From cruise director on a ship to finance manager of travel for Nationwide Insurance, her work ethic and tenacity allowed her to excel. Her expertise includes but is not limited to the fields of leisure and cruise travel, hotel management, sales and marketing, supplier relationships, negotiations and cost reduction.

When Cloran entered the banking world, it was a male dominated industry. Cloran was determined to prove that she was qualified and became a pioneer and a trailblazer for women in corporate America.

Recruited by JP Morgan Chase in 1986, Cloran spent the next 20 years contributing to the success of the company. Her vision in adopting innovative technologies was instrumental in bringing airline and hotel reservation capability to the desktop of 270,000 associates. Her commitment to education, training and compliance saved millions of dollars in fees. One example is her implementation of Global Preferred Hotel and Corporate Housing Programs resulting in $6.1 million in savings.

Cloran has served as manager, director and vice president and has been recognized throughout her professional career as a leader. She has received leadership and innovation awards and served on state and national boards, including the Advisory Board of the American Express Travel Services and Executive Board of the Ohio Valley Business Travel Association.

Today, Cloran works part-time with Expedia Cruises as a travel consultant and is a huge Railsplitter fan, often in the stands when LMU athletic teams travel to Ohio.
