LMU Vice President for Academic Affairs W. Mark Tew bestowed the University's prestigious Houston Award for Teaching Excellence on Professor of History Michael Toomey, PhD. The award was presented during LMU's annual Awards and Student Recognition Ceremony on April 19.
Lincoln Memorial University-College of Veterinary Medicine (LMU-CVM) is pleased to welcome Dr. Paul Riedel as assistant professor of veterinary medicine and large animal clinical DVM.
Lincoln Memorial University’s (LMU) School of Allied Health Sciences (AHS) recently welcomed a class of students from Lenoir City High School (LCHS) for a visit and tour of the facilities. Jessica Rose, who teaches large animal science and veterinary science at LCHS, accompanied the group. The students had a full day of presentations and tours at AHS and the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM). AHS Recruitment and Success Coordinator Holly Evans organized the visit.
LMU-CVM has named Dr. Bonnie Price as the director of the new Master of Veterinary Clinical Care program. Price also serves as an associate professor of veterinary medicine.
The LMU Doctor of Physical Therapy program hosted a White Coat Ceremony for the Class of 2024 on April 9 in Knoxville, Tennessee. The ceremony was held at the Rothchild Catering and Conference Center and featured 57 students who began in May 2021 as the inaugural cohort of the program.
LMU-CVM is hosting the inaugural Tri-State Doggie Olympics on April 30 at the Claiborne County Animal Shelter Dog Park in New Tazewell, Tennessee. The awards dinner and ceremony will be held that evening at the Cumberland Gap Convention Center.
Choral and instrumental performances are coming up to continue the year-long 125th Anniversary celebration of Lincoln Memorial University’s (LMU) founding. During April there will be two consecutive evenings of musical performances. The LMU Concert Choir will hold its 125th Anniversary celebration on Monday, April 25, at 7 p.m. in the Sam and Sue Mars Performing Arts Center in the Duke Hall of Citizenship. The LMU Jazz Band and Concert Band will perform on Tuesday, April 26, at 7 p.m. – also in the Duke Hall of Citizenship.

J. Frank White Academy Spanish instructor Zachary Greene has been named the K-12 winner of the 2021 Stephen L. Fisher Award for Excellence in Teaching awarded by the Appalachian Studies Association (ASA). This award honors individuals dedicated to intellectual rigor and pedagogical integrity in constructing and delivering inclusive knowledge about Appalachia and its people.
Lincoln Memorial University’s (LMU) Arts in the Gap (AITG) and Women of Service, along with Guardians of the Gap, are hosting Fine Art Friday during April 2022. This event is a community art contest, with art entries from residents of the Tri-State region displayed. The contest is being held in honor of LMU’s 125th Anniversary celebration. LMU’s Women of Service, AITG and Guardians of the Gap want residents of the region to show what the milestone 125th anniversary means to them.
