LMU-CVM Students Present at AASV Student Seminar

LMU-CVM students receive scholarships.

Two first-year students in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Program at the Lincoln Memorial University – College of Veterinary Medicine (LMU-CVM) were awarded $500 in scholarships from the American Association of Swine Veterinarians (AASV) Foundation funded by Elanco Animal Health for presentations they developed with faculty mentor Dr. Brad Thacker at the 53rd AASV Annual Meeting held in Indianapolis, Indiana, on February 26-March 1, 2022.

Amanda Archer presented on the relationship between sample types, fetal death outcomes, and porcine circovirus PCR test results. Donna Presnell presented on the impact of neonatal porcine circovirus infection on the development of Streptococcus suis disease in late farrowing and nursery age pigs. Both of these presentations were results of their Veterinary Biomedical Master’s degree research projects performed under the guidance of Thacker in spring 2021.

The American Association of Swine Veterinarians Foundation awarded scholarships totaling $25,000 to 15 veterinary students.
