Lincoln Memorial University Duncan School of Law (LMU Law) will honor Dean Emeritus Gary R. Wade on Thursday, March 31, 2022, with the unveiling of his portrait in the Robert H. Watson Courtroom— joining portraits of former LMU Law deans Sydney Beckman and Parham Williams. A reception will precede the program, which will feature remarks from Dean Matt Lyon, LMU President Clayton Hess, LMU Board Chairman Autry O.V. “Pete” DeBusk, and LMU Law alumni.
Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) President Clayton Hess has named David Honeycutt as the new chief of LMU Police and Security. In this role, Honeycutt will oversee all police and security operations at LMU and lead the nationally recognized LMU Police and Security department, which includes a staff of almost 50 personnel including POST-certified police officers, armed security guards, unarmed security guards, dispatchers and administrative staff. In addition to the main campus, the department serves LMU’s nine off-campus learning sites. Honeycutt brings 27 years of law enforcement experience to LMU. Most recently he used his expertise at the Union County Sheriff’s Department, where he worked from 2019 until he accepted the post at LMU.
Two first-year students in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Program at the Lincoln Memorial University – College of Veterinary Medicine (LMU-CVM) were awarded $500 in scholarships from the American Association of Swine Veterinarians (AASV) Foundation funded by Elanco Animal Health for presentations they developed with faculty mentor Dr. Brad Thacker at the 53rd AASV Annual Meeting held in Indianapolis, Indiana, on February 26-March 1, 2022.
On March 3- 5, 2022, Lincoln Memorial University Duncan School of Law (LMU Law) third-year law students Baylee Brown, Brock Goetz, Brianna Riley, and Brianna Weiner competed in the oral advocacy component of the Washington D.C. Regional of the American Bar Association’s National Appellate Advocacy Competition (ABA NAAC). Their teammates, second-year student Jordan Meddings and third-year student Megan Lowe, authored the briefs, fulfilling the written advocacy component of the competition.
LMU-SMS Doctor of Medical Science (DMS) student Gary A. R. Bowen was recently promoted to Major while stationed in the remote Kurecik Mountains in Turkey. He was promoted from the rank of Captain to Major effective February 3 in a ceremony completed by the Turkish Site Commander Major Metin, Kaya of the Turkish Airforce.
