As a member of the Clerk/Treasurers Association of Virginia, McCann has held all officer positions and as part of the Lee County Chamber of Commerce she has been past president, vice president and secretary. McCann also participates in fundraisers for the American Cancer Society and United Way, and is a volunteer for Remote Area Medical (RAM) Clinic at LMU.

McCann is married to Dr. Gary McCann, a 1995 LMU EdS graduate.

Previous winners include Linda Fultz (2015), Lynn Duncan (2016), Cleo Bush (2017), and Judy Robertson (2018).

The 2019 WOS fashion show raised over $17,000 for scholarships and service projects. Over 400 people attended the event for the chance to shop at vendor booths, eat at the buffet, and see casual and formal fashions for women from shops around the region.

“The fashion show is successful because of the outpouring of support from our community and friends,” said Sheliah Cosby, chair of the WOS Fashion Show. “The money raised from table sponsorships, program ads, ticket sales, vendor participation, and other donations allows the LMU Women of Service to help deserving LMU students.”

Established in 2011, the LMU Women of Service is open to all women who want to help students at LMU. By living as an example of service, WOS members teach LMU students about the mission of service to humanity. With proceeds from activities like the fashion show and the WOS Christmas Festival, the organization funds several endowed scholarships and provides family aid and cultural enrichment opportunities to LMU students. A WOS membership campaign is now active all current members and those interested in joining are encouraged to sign up at
