LMU Enrolls More Students Than Ever

DCOM Class of 2023 at LMU-KnoxvilleHarrogate, Tennessee, September 15, 2019— Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) has surpassed its previous enrollment record with a total headcount of 4,867 students at the fall census date. The undergraduate population grew to 1,975.

“This enrollment record highlights the trust students have placed in LMU to meet their educational needs,” said LMU President Clayton Hess. “Additionally, this sustained growth in enrollment demonstrates that we are achieving our institutional mission.”

In late July, LMU opened the doors to a second location of the LMU-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) at its newest off-campus site in Knoxville. The additional site opening propelled graduate population growth to 2,892 graduate and professional students.

The enrollment of 1,264 first-generation students at LMU is another indicator that the University continues to achieve its mission of providing educational opportunities to Appalachia and beyond. The institution was recently also ranked 49th in the new U.S. News and World Report social mobility ranking for “National Universities.” The ranking measures how successful a school is at enrolling and graduating undergraduate students who come from low-income households. LMU’s social mobility ranking is the highest in Tennessee including both public and private institutions.

LMU has shown consistent growth over the past decade, with a total enrollment increase of nearly 50% and an undergraduate enrollment increase of 29%. Spurred by the initiation of professional schools, including the LMU-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine, LMU Duncan School of Law and LMU-College of Veterinary Medicine, LMU’s graduate and professional student enrollment has increased 61% in the last ten years.
