Knoxville, Tennessee, November 30, 2019—The Lincoln Memorial University Duncan School of Law (LMU Law) Mock Trial team hosted the 2019 Kimsey Cup Trial Advocacy Competition last week. The annual internal competition provides students an opportunity to test their trial skills.
Six teams of student attorneys competed while other students served as lay and expert witnesses. Local attorneys and LMU Law faculty judged each round. Aaron Kimsey, a member of the LMU Law Class of 2015, supported the tournament and provided the top prize and is the namesake for the competition.
Second-year law students William Culver and Jesse West won the 2019 Kimsey Cup. Second-year law student Wesley Eke was named best advocate and Kayla Long, a first-year law student, was recognized as Best Witness.
“LMU Mock Trial did an excellent job organizing the tournament,” said Katie Jones, assistant professor of Law and Mock Trial faculty advisor. “There were many impressive teams and individual performances. Everyone who participated gained valuable trial advocacy experience.”
