Class of 2019 Commencement Ceremony set for Saturday, May 18 at 10 a.m.
Harrogate, Tennessee, May 15, 2019 –The Class of 2019 of Lincoln Memorial University-College of Veterinary Medicine (LMU-CVM) will celebrate the completion of its veterinary medical education at the school’s commencement ceremony Saturday, May 18, at 10 a.m. in Tex Turner Arena on the LMU main campus in Harrogate, Tennessee. Zoetis, U.S. Operations Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Veterinary Medical Services and Outcomes Outreach, Dr. Christine Jenkins, will serve as the commencement speaker.
Jenkins, a native of Tallahassee, Florida, received her bachelor of science degree in Animal Science from Florida A&M University and her doctor of veterinary medicine from Tuskegee University. She completed an internship at the University of Florida and a residency at the University of Tennessee in small animal internal medicine. She is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) in Small Animal Internal Medicine and is a former president of the ACVIM Foundation Board of Directors. Jenkins is a member of the Veterinary Futures Commission, the board of directors for the One Health Commission, the Sponsors Board for FFA, the Advisory Board for Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service and the dean’s advisory board for Tuskegee University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.
“We are thrilled to have Dr. Jenkins from Zoetis to celebrate this day with our students, and we are thankful for the support Zoetis has given to many of our students during their clinical years,” said Dr. Jason Johnson, vice president and dean of LMU-CVM.
LMU-CVM is devoted to the mission of improving animal and human health care in the Appalachian region. Members of the Class of 2019 began their journey to become doctors of veterinary medicine in August 2015. One of only 30 veterinary colleges when it opened its doors, the LMU-CVM has welcomed over 500 students in the last five years.
“This is a big day indeed. Our students have spent the last four years serving both people and animals in our community and beyond, and I look forward to seeing the impact they will continue to make in their careers,” Johnson said. “We congratulate the Class of 2019 and wish them well.”
