HARROGATE, Tennessee, November 19, 2018— The Lincoln Memorial University (LMU)
Paul V. Hamilton School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences is hosting the senior exhibition for Hannah Rivers, of Rose Hill, Virginia, at the Paul V. Hamilton Center for the Arts through Nov. 30.
In the exhibition, titled “She Is Art,” Rivers delves into ideas of self-image and self-discovery through a series of self-portraits on paper. Using a hybrid printmaking and drawing process, Rivers explores drawn images of photographic sources. Rivers adds, removes and explores layers of ink, pigment, paint and various other drawing materials on large sheets of paper. The images are meant to serve as a window for the viewer to share the artist's emotional viewpoints and to make a connection with the artist and with the viewer.
The Paul V. Hamilton Center for the Arts, nestled in the historic town of Cumberland Gap, Tennessee, strives to bring cutting-edge contemporary art from local and regional artists to the LMU community and to foster conversation about the place of visual arts and how they impact the diverse community of Appalachia in the 21st century. The Cumberland Gap Arts Center is located at 703 Brooklyn St. in Cumberland Gap and is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., and by appointment.
