Gary L. Thurman is a practicing CPA in Midland, Texas, primarily with energy and estate related clients. After graduation from college and completion of active military duty in 1964, Mr. Thurman was assigned to Midland by Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. Hansel O. Kincaid was in charge of the Midland tax practice and was a recognized leading West Texas oil and gas tax practitioner. Independent of each other, Mr. Kincaid and Mr. Thurman opted to become sole practitioners focused on independent oil producers and investors.
When Mr. Kincaid's health declined and he was unable to carry the full weight of his tax practice, he asked Mr. Thurman to help service his core clientele. Eventually, Mrs. Kincaid asked Mr. Thurman to help administer her husband's estate. Because of that relationship, Mrs. Kincaid requested that Mr. Thurman be the Independent Executor of her estate with particular attention to advancement of the Judeo-Christian Ethic.
Hansel Kincaid's uncle, Dr. Robert L. Kincaid, was President of Lincoln Memorial University from 1947-1958 and a tireless advocate for the Lincoln collection.
Mr. Thurman became aware of the Kincaids' regular financial support to Lincoln Memorial University's mission and quality career-preparation degree programs. Having a long-standing personal knowledge of the Kincaids' Christian commitment and intentional adherence to the Judeo-Christian Ethic, he is honored to have helped facilitate the Kincaid Legacy with Lincoln Memorial University in a way that both honors Dr. Kincaid and underwrites academic research that advances understanding of that Ethic.
A graduate of Kilgore College and the University of Texas at Austin, Mr. Thurman has a boutique accounting practice focused on estate administration support.
