Professor Rickels joined the LMU Law School in 2021 to work with the Academic Success Program. She spent the majority of her legal career practicing criminal defense with downtown Knoxville firm Oberman & Rice. Professor Rickels also spent a brief term with the UT College of Law Legal Clinic as a Reentry Fellow with a focus on expungement work. A Knoxville native, she graduated from UT College of Law with honors after attending Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina for her undergraduate degree. Professor Rickels is particularly interested in the cognitive and behavioral science behind learning, study techniques, habits, and success.
