The Cumberland Trail State Scenic Trail is seeking qualified candidates for a 12-Week Backcountry Trail Crew. Work Period: As soon as possible through August 20th. The Trail Crew will be working/camping on Bird Mountain in Frozen Head State Natural Area in Morgan County, developing the trail connection between Frozen Head and Bird Mountain. The Cumberland Trail (CT) will be a 300-mile hiking trail from the Cumberland Gap at the Virginia/Kentucky/Tennessee state corner to Signal Point near Chattanooga. This section will fully open the trail from Wartburg to LaFollette. Build a trail that your great grandkids will hike.
Job Description:
Trail Crew Members will construct new hiking trail, rock steps, and other structures using hand tools and mechanical equipment in this remote area. They must work with others effectively and safely to complete trail construction & maintenance projects. The Trail Crew will share in camp chores each day. Camping overnight may be required 3 nights a week.
A full-time work week is 37.5 hours. The weekly schedule:
Day 1 - Arrive at the meeting point, travel to the camp location, set up camp, and construct trail.
Day 2 & 3 – Trail construction
Day – 4 Trail construction, break down camp, and depart for office
The Trail Crew members will also take turns performing the role of camp keeper, maintaining the camp and performing related duties. Weekly schedule subject to change due to weather conditions or logistical necessity.

College and Career Navigators will specifically focus on the recruitment, retention, and referral of adult learners, resulting in improved MSG and GED performance for KY Sills U programs. Time for this position is required to be fully dedicated to duties of college and career navigation.
This position outlined below is located in Middlesboro, Kentucky but travel is also required to the Harlan, Cumberland, & Whitesburg campuses.

Major Responsibilities/Duties
Recruitment
Remains integrally involved with student intake and orientation, assessment, analysis, goal setting, discussion(s) to build rapport and overcome barriers and assist the student in understanding career interests and aptitudes and his/her scope of opportunity and milestones within his/her career pathway.
Connects students to wrap around services for back needs (food, clothing, shelter, transportation, childcare, etc.)
Develops and implements strategies (e.g. phone calls, texts, emails and mail) to engage new students or reengage those who have started, but not earned, their GED.
Assists program staff, including Strategic partnership Coordinators (where available), in marketing and recruitment activities such as attending community events, engaging WIOA partners, distributing promotional materials, advertising, local job openings that require a GED and utilizing social media.
Works in collaboration with KCTCS Success Coaches and Career Centers for referrals/warm hand-offs from college students who need GED or additional skilling up.
Retention
Develops a written transition plan and checklist based on student’s preferred career pathway.
Addresses student barriers to improve student persistence and success.
Empowers students by bolstering resilience through identifying strengths and accomplishments.
Regularly meets, and immediately follows up with absent students, to review and modify goals, celebrate achievements, and reset after temporary setbacks.
Regularly and intensively communicates and coordinates with instructional staff to ensure that services align with individual student goals for college and/or career training and to prepare intervention strategies as needed.
Improves student awareness of and access to community resources that support individual career and educational goals. Helps students build support networks, peer communities and family engagements for support and accountability.
Facilitates employer engagement, including the Strategic Partnership Coordinator (where available) by inviting employers as guest speakers and partnering to provide job shadowing and/or (pre) apprenticeship opportunities.
Performance
Uses formal and informal assessment data to establish, monitor, and document student progress toward goals.
Meets regularly with data and assessment specialist to understand their program’s particular performance data, goals, and challenges and to identify at-risk students.
Referral
Maintains resources aligned to current high growth sectors relative to student interest and regional need. Accesses organizational, partnership, electronic and other resources to help inform educational and career exploration and choice, including labor market information and input from workforce experts and contacts.
Discusses transferability of skills and training among and between various occupations and industries.
Equips students with professional life skills such as essay writing, application completion, resume creation, interviewing and soft skills.
Works in collaboration with the KCTCS Success Coaches and Career Centers, or their 4-year counterparts, for referrals/warm hand-offs to the college for enrollment, registration, financial aid, and additional assessment.
Personnel
Applies principles of adult learning to all interactions, activities, and planned outcomes for students.

Minimum Requirements

Program Overview
Our Foster Care program works with the foster care children to talk about their referral issues and to discuss why they are in foster care. Foster Care Specialists serve as a liaison between the child and the court and is always an advocate for the best needs of the child. The Youth Villages Foster Care Program uses intensive in-home based treatment where interventions are parent focused bringing change through the family, school, community, and peer groups.

Specialists provide services to the entire family, rather than just the identified youth. They work with the family hands-on to build trust and align them with treatment

• Assesses daily patient care needs and develops appropriate patient care assignments.

Cumberland Gap National Historical Park is located at the corners of Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia. The Park contains 24,000 acres of which 14,000 acres are proposed wilderness. The natural beauty of Appalachian mountain country, lush with vegetation, supports a diverse flora and fauna. Cumberland Gap has 70 miles of hiking trails, mountains, streams, and caves. Middlesboro, Kentucky is the nearest town and is large enough to accommodate three grocery stores, fast food, several restaurants, and a movie theater. Knoxville, Tennessee is approximately 1.5 hours away and has many amenities of a large city.

Living Allowance: ACE Member is expected to contribute ~40 hours/week and will receive a living allowance of $255/week to offset the costs of food and incidental expenses, dispersed bi-weekly. The Member will be provided with a one-time equipment allowance of $200 for the purchase of field boots.
Housing: ACE members will be accommodated in provided housing at no cost for the duration of the term. The member may opt out of NPS housing in favor of their own rental location and a housing allowance of $700/month ($175/week) will be provided for a total living allowance of $425/week.
AmeriCorps: This position may be eligible for a 675-hour AmeriCorps Education Award ($2,417.14) upon successful completion of service hours. Additional enrollment and volunteer service are required.
Position Description: The ACE member will assist the Cumberland Gap's Resource Management staff in accomplishing a variety of tasks. The member will spend the majority of their time in the field performing physically demanding tasks as assigned. Approximately 75 - 80% of the fieldwork will be Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA) control; duties will also include exotic plant management and other invasive species work.
This project is very physically demanding. In order to perform Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA) control, the ACE member must be very comfortable navigating off trail in the backcountry using GPS. Backcountry camping in a team of two will be required. This treatment is performed off-trail and requires bushwhacking through rhododendron, mountain laurel, and greenbrier up-and-down steep slopes, crossing streams, carrying 2.5-gallon jugs of insecticide, measuring trees, applying chemical at the base of the tree, marking treated trees, and moving onto the next tree. The Member must be able to hike up to 8 miles a day carrying up to 40 lbs of gear in all weather conditions and in steep terrain.
Another duty would be exotic plant control. Exotic plant control at Cumberland Gap is almost always accomplished by spraying herbicides. There are two primary methods of exotic plant control performed:
The first is foliar treatment with a backpack sprayer that carries 2 - 3 gallons of herbicide. Foliar spraying large areas of exotic plants require members to carry this heavy load of herbicide, often in full sun, on slopes in difficult terrain.
The second method requires cutting down shrubs and small trees with hand tools and then spraying the stumps with concentrated herbicide solution.
The member will spend the remainder of their time performing other relevant tasks as assigned. Examples of other duties include bat monitoring, wildlife surveys, and ginseng surveys.
This individual placement is meant to facilitate professional development and promotes exposure to land management agencies and networking with professionals. This could include gaining experience in different conservation fields and shadowing different work groups.

Twin Maples offers wellness visits, ill patient visits, dentistry, ultrasound, endoscopy, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. Our doctors have a wide range of experience and interests.
At Twin Maples, you will have the opportunity to see a variety of cases, both routine and challenging as well as the opportunity to observe the day-to-day scheduling and management of a large group practice.

Internship Openings
Operations Internship (Washington, D.C.)
Operations Interns work with the Operations Team to support the Congressman and
coordinate operations for a team of 20 in three offices. Interns will work closely with
the Director of Operations & Scheduling to prepare the Congressman for policy
meetings and events. Other responsibilities include maintaining organization and a
professional environment, preparing detailed spreadsheets, and preparing briefings
for upcoming meetings and events. Applicants must have strong communication and
computer skills, acute attention to detail, and the ability to work, at times, with
minimal supervision, and the ability to multi-task is critical.
Communications Internship (Washington, D.C.)
Communications Interns work with the Press Team to develop messaging and
advance priorities in the court of public opinion. Interns will work closely with the
Press Secretary by monitoring breaking news and social media, conducting research
for talking points, and drafting posts advancing the Congressman’s message. Interns
will assist in drafting daily messaging priorities, provide research assistance, and
support communications logistics and digital platforms. Applicants must have strong
communication and organizational skills, be able to meet quick deadlines.
Policy Internship (Washington, D.C.)
Policy Interns work with the Legislative Team to craft policy and analyze legislation in
Committees and on the House Floor. Interns will work closely with the Legislative
Assistants in conducting research for hearings of the Committee on Foreign Affairs,
Committee on Homeland Security, and Committee on Oversight and Reform. Interns
will also help staff prepare in monitoring activities on the House Floor. Applicants
must have strong research and communication skills, be able to meet deadlines, and
have an understanding of the federal policy issues .
District Internship (Franklin, TN or Clarksville, TN)
District Interns work with the District Team to liaise with elected officials and
community leaders, and serve constituents across 19 counties. Interns will work
closely with the District Director and Field Staff with research and logistical support
meetings and events. Interns will also work with the staff from the Tennessee General
Assembly, local governments, and civic organizations. Applicants must have strong
organization and communications skills, be punctual and flexible, and be able to

What will interns do on a daily basis?
An intern’s day-to-day activities depend on the department to which the intern is
assigned. Interns will work closely with staff in their assigned department on a daily
basis. In addition, all interns will assist with general office duties, including greeting
constituents, answering phones, sorting correspondence, and giving tours. All interns
will also participate in weekly meetings with senior staff across departments, attend
committee hearings and policy briefings, complete reading and writing assignments,

Pre-Veterinary interns start as kennel attendants and receive training from Dr. Coffey before taking on further responsibilities.
