The Carter and Moyers School of Education is granted NCATE accreditation.
The Continuous Improvement Commission of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) at its October 2013 meeting granted NCATE accreditation to the Carter & Moyers School of Education at the initial teacher preparation and advanced preparation levels. The initial teacher preparation programs include initial teacher licensure for grades K-6, K-12 in visual art, physical education, and 7-12 for biology, business, English, chemistry, history, and math (at the undergraduate and master’s levels) and school counselor licensure. Advanced preparation levels include the Master’s in Education and Educational Specialist programs for curriculum and instruction and education administration and supervision.
The CAEP Commission recognized the School’s quality by noting that the unit is moving toward target on Standard 6 (Unit Governance and Resources). The Commission cited no areas for improvement relative to any of the NCATE standards which is unusual for a school seeking accreditation for the first time. As an NCATE institution, the Carter and Moyers School of Education joins an exceptional group of schools that meet rigorous standards set forth by the global professional education community.
The next accreditation visit – using the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) standards – is scheduled for Spring 2020. The Carter & Moyers School of Education will continue to focus on continuous improvement while providing programs that enhance and improve the learning of children.
