LMU-CVM Student Research Opportunities
There are a number of opportunities for veterinary students to participate in research at LMU-CVM.
Student Research Assistants (SRA): Call for applications for SRA is sent to principal Investigators (PI) early in the Fall and Spring semesters. Since these applications are submitted by PIs, interested students are encouraged to contact PI of the project of their interest, at the beginning of each semester. Veterinary students are eligible to work as an SRA on research projects on campus and earn a stipend of $400 for completing a minimum of 40 hrs of work during the semester. Students will gain research experience, present their research at the CVM Annual Research Day and depending on their contribution, be a co-author on the resulting publication. For more information, email Ashutosh.Verma@lmunet.edu.
Student Research Volunteers (SRV): Student research volunteers have no specified time commitment to a project and will not receive any stipend. This is aimed at giving students some experience of working in a research setting and giving them an opportunity to find out if they like working in a research lab.
Vidya Research Award (VRA): VRA is open to DVM students who are interested in participating in veterinary research at LMU-CVM. Two awards will be offered in the Fall semester and one in the Spring semester. Interested students will identify an ongoing research project, complete the application and submit to Dr. Jason Johnson (Jason.Johnson02@lmunet.edu). Selected students will be expected to work on a project for at least 40 hours and on successful completion of their research duties, receive a stipend of $500. Any questions regarding the application process should be directed to Dr. Jason Johnson.
