What sets our program apart from veterinary programs at other institutions? By accepting students in both the spring and fall, the LMU-CVM is the largest college of veterinary medicine in the country. We accept 100 students for our spring semesters and 125 students for our fall semesters. We take pride in our smaller laboratory group sizes so that ensuring you receive a hands-on teaching experience in a nurturing learning environment. At LMU, we've designed our innovative program to function without a teaching hospital and instead give you the opportunity to learn through real-world experiences.
Review the requirements listed below to ensure that you meet the necessary criteria for admission into our program.
To qualify, you must have at least 43 semesters or 65 quarter units from a regionally accredited college or university. (If a student intends to practice in the state of New York, at least 60 semester units are required.)
A minimum overall 2.8 GPA or higher on all coursework as calculated by VMCAS. Students not meeting these criteria for a GPA of <2.8, who have demonstrated commitment to academic excellence in the last 2 years of student or most recent 60 semester hours may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Applicant GRE scores are not required and will not be considered. Alternatively, LMU-CVM requires the Casper Assessment.
Pre-Requisite Coursework
To fulfill the prerequisite, your coursework must meet the following criteria:
*Prerequisite courses can be “in progress” or “planned” at the time you submit your application. However, official transcripts that are successfully completed must be submitted to LMU by the published deadlines.
*Advanced Placement (AP) credits will be accepted for prerequisite courses if they appear on your official college transcript including the subject and number of credits received and are equivalent to the appropriate college-level coursework. A generic listing of “AP credit” or “transfer credit” without the specific subject and number of credits will not be accepted.
All applicants to the LMU-CVM may be considered for either the spring or fall cohort. By submitting your application in accordance with the timelines listed below, you will be eligible for early interviews and decision-making.
Spring Cohort Application Timeline
Applicants should ensure that all of your required documents (eLOR, transcripts, etc.) are submitted before the LMU June 30th deadline. Failure to submit the required information by this date, may still be eligible for entry into the spring semester. Please note that by failing to meet this deadline, acceptance offers/decisions will occur later in the fall, which will result in less time to prepare for classes to begin in January.
