The inauguration of Dr. Clayton Hess as Lincoln Memorial University's 21st President will take place on Friday, October 13, 2017, at 3 p.m. in the Tex Turner Arena.
Where possible, classes should be dismissed at 2 p.m. on October 13 to allow faculty and students to attend the inauguration ceremony. While attendance is not mandatory, faculty are expected to participate and march, in regalia, unless they are in clinical or have other circumstances that would make it difficult for them to be present. Faculty are asked to discuss with their department chair/dean circumstances that prevent their attendance.
Please encourage students to attend this significant event in LMU's history.
While attendance is not mandatory, staff are expected to attend unless they are in an “essential function” office where coverage must be provided. Staff should check with their supervisor regarding attendance. Staff who plan to attend should register here.
Regalia will be ordered in early September for the inauguration and faculty will keep it for commencement in December. Faculty members should check with their administrative assistant/executive assistant regarding regalia.
Robing will take place in the Athletic Training Room. Faculty should arrive no later than 2:15 p.m.
Faculty should park at the Hamilton Math & Science building. Shuttle service between the Math & Science building and the lower level of the Tex Turner Arena will be available from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. The shuttle will be available following the ceremony and following the reception to return faculty to the Math & Science building.
Faculty and staff are invited to the inauguration reception immediately following the ceremony in the Tex Turner Room in the Arena. Please join us in celebrating a continuation of the University's legacy.
