Course Description: Long-term implant success begins long before implant placement. The quality and stability of the hard and soft tissues surrounding an implant are critical determinants of predictable, esthetic, and maintainable outcomes.
This clinically focused course will explore the periodontal principles that guide implant treatment from the initial treatment decision through site development and long-term maintenance. Using a series of clinical cases and photographic documentation, we will examine strategies for preserving teeth whenever possible, developing deficient implant sites, and establishing adequate hard and soft tissue architecture for long-term stability.
Emphasis will be placed on the diagnosis and management of hard and soft tissue deficiencies, timing and sequencing of periodontal and implant therapy, and the biologic principles that influence tissue stability around implants. Cases will illustrate both challenging situations and practical approaches to achieving predictable outcomes.
Ultimately, the goal is not simply to place implants, but to preserve what can be preserved, develop what is missing, and maintain what has been created—with long-term biologic stability as the measure of success.
