Harrogate, Tennessee, September 8, 2017— Dr. James Maxwell has joined the faculty and will lead the Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) School of Business as dean.
Maxwell comes to LMU with nearly two decades of experience in academic leadership and more than 23 years as a field engineer, marketing manager and vice president of sales and marketing for Emerson Electric Corporation. He has taught at Sullivan University, MacMurray College, University of Northern Iowa and SUNY-Buffalo State. He served as chair of the Management Department and professor at Sullivan University before joining LMU. Maxwell has served as provost and vice president for academic affairs and student life at MacMurray College, department head and professor at the University of Northern Iowa, and chair and professor at SUNY-Buffalo State.
“I am pleased to have Dr. Maxwell leading the LMU School of Business as he brings both strong industry experience and significant academic experience and scholarly credentials,” said Dr. Amiel Jarstfer, vice president for academic affairs.
Maxwell has received the Kauffman Fellowship from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation for the advancement of entrepreneurship; the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Instructor of the Year from SUNY-Buffalo State and several other awards. He has published several multiple-blind peer-reviewed journal articles and conference proceedings. He serves as an editorial reviewer and board member for several academic journals and professional organizations.
“I am honored to serve as the dean of the School of Business at Lincoln Memorial University and to be working with such dedicated faculty and students,” Maxwell said. “The school is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs which reviews the quality and integrity of business degree programs. We have an exciting year planned with many new initiatives.”
Maxwell holds a Ph.D. in technology management and human resource development and industrial training from Indiana State University; a doctor of management from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri; and a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in management from Maryville University, in St. Louis, Missouri.
