Clinical Year Overview
Teach commonly seen conditions uncommonly well
Lincoln Memorial University-College of Veterinary Medicine is advancing a hybrid distributed community based educational model in which premier practices and institutions participate in the education of future graduates. Well qualified fourth year veterinary students rotate through select, high quality clinical affiliate locations where they obtain real world learning experience from highly qualified veterinarians. Distributed educational models have become the norm in other health professions and have served society well. The model provides for cost-effective, real world, hands-on learning experiences. Additionally, it allows for a mutually beneficial collaborative partnership between the veterinary college and community professionals.
The LMU-CVM has created a new and exciting, cost-effective veterinary medical education program that graduates confident and competent career-ready veterinarians. Leaders in our profession, including the North American Veterinary Medical Education Consortium (NAVMEC), have called for an innovative, collaborative, and sustainable model for the delivery of 21st century veterinary education. By building on the success of the institutions that came before us, and incorporating innovations from across medical higher education, the LMU-CVM is committed to preparing the next generation of veterinarians to meet the needs of a rapidly evolving society.
