List of Annual and Endowed Scholarships



Lincoln Memorial University greatly benefits from the generosity of donors who have made annual and endowed scholarships possible for our students. If you are interested in applying for the scholarships with specific application criteria listed below, please submit all required materials (including a cover letter stating the full name of the scholarship for which you are applying, and your full contact information in case we need to reach you) to the following address:

Scholarship awards are made by the LMU Awards Committee to qualified students based on available funds each year. All materials must be received by the Office of Financial Aid , unless otherwise specified, in order to be considered for the scholarships listed below.  Please call Bryan Erslan in the Office of Financial Aid at 423.869.6465 if you have additional questions.

C.W. and Gladys T. Bradley Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship criteria: Graduate of Murray County, GA High School or surrounding area. GPA of at least 3.0.

Application items required: three letters of recommendation citing good character and citizenship.

Delta Theta Sigma Annual Scholarship


Criteria: Scholarship shall be awarded to an active member of the Delta Theta Sigma Sorority who must have been active for two consecutive semesters, not including pledging. Member must be a full time student and have at least a 3.0 GPA. In addition to student’s sorority activities, campus and community service will be taken into consideration. Members who have been inactive, either voluntarily or involuntarily, will be considered on a case by case basis depending on the circumstances for being inactive, i.e., illness, family situations or financial problems. They must have become full time students again and have been fully reinstated in the Sorority. Past recipients who reapply and qualify may receive the scholarship again, if only one, and/or no other, applicant qualifies.

Harold M. Finley Memorial Endowed Scholarship


Scholarship criteria: Maintain a composite 3.25 gpa through the first seven semesters of high school; choose a college major only in the fields of business, education, computer sciences or ministerial studies. Applicants are to realize that an emphasis will be placed on selecting a student who is able to demonstrate financial need based on total family income and the number of siblings who may be enrolled in an institution of high learning.

Application items required:
  1. Letter of recommendation from a faculty member
  2. Letter of recommendation from a community leader
  3. Letter of recommendation from an employer or supervisor of community service experiences
  4. Have at least two years of work experience or community services
  5. Write a two-page essay covering one's philosophy of life, leadership abilities, and aspirations and goals beyond high school.

Nancy Burch Moody Endowed Nursing Scholarship

Scholarship criteria: Student in good standing, enrolled in nursing program, demonstrated financial need and academic achievement.

Application items required: Students wishing to apply should write a letter addressing these two areas and submit it to the Director of Financial Aid..

SWVA Alumni Chapter Scholarship

Scholarship criteria: Student from Lee, Norton, Wise or Scott County, VA, intent on pursuing a BS degree. Not less than a C average; demonstrated financial need.

Application items required:

  1. Recommendation from school authorities
  2. Submitted application and transcript of grades
  3. Two-page essay stating why assistance is needed and future plans and aspirations
  4. Application materials for the SWVA Alumni Chapter Scholarship should be sent to Mr. Jim Whitt, Scholarship Chair, P.O. Box 277, Rose Hill, VA 24281.

Staff Senate Annual Scholarship


Scholarship criteria: An annual scholarship for LMU staff and their dependents that are eligable for the tuition benefit, to be used toward the purchase of books, has been established by the LMU Staff Senate. One $250 scholarship will be awarded annually (may be undergraduate or graduate) split between the fall and spring semesters.

Application items required:

  1. The applicant must write a letter to the Staff Senate addressing the reasons to be considered for the scholarship. The Staff Senate will then give recommendations to the Awards Committee for their final approval of the recipient for the scholarship.

Note: Children/dependents of current Staff Senate members are eligible. The scholarship will be awarded only to applicants who fit the criteria for need-based scholarships.

Student Services Scholarship

Scholarship criteria: A full time undergraduate residential or commuter student having demonstrated leadership qualities through an active student life, with demonstrated financial need from the immediate ten-county Appalachian region of Harlan, Bell, Knox, Claiborne, Hancock, Campbell, Union, Lee, Wise and Scott Counties.

Application items required: Letter of request to Student Services Note: Student must have earned at least a cumulative 2.75 GPA or better, and must have completed at least one LMU semester.
