COURSE        IV.       An introduction to laboratory animals most commonly used in research.  The DESC.                             course will include identification procedures, husbandry, housing, sanitation,    

diseases and parasites of laboratory animals.  The course will also include laboratory sessions, where students will gain hands on experience handling living animals and performing routine procedures with laboratory animals.

COURSE        VI.       The student will become familiar with commonly used research animals including

OBJ.                           their nutritional needs, mating habits, diseases, and housing equipment needed.  He/she will also realize the importance of accurate record keeping.

INST.              VII.      Lecture, slide presentation,  and hands on experience.

REQ.               VIII.     Attendance to lectures, required reading assignments.

 

METHODS    IX.       Daily assignments must be in on time.  They will comprise 50% of the total grade.

OF EVAL.                  The care of the lab animals and class attendance and participation comprise 20%. 

            A take home final exam will comprise 30% of the grade.
