PREREQUISITES:
Audition/Interview with director

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
A choral ensemble engaged in the rehearsal and performance of quality
literature of all periods and styles.
The choir will be actively involved in the cooperative learning and
group efforts that are required in group music-making.
V.
TEXT: None. Students will be given the needed choral
literature which must be returned to the choral librarian at the end of the
semester.
VI.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Successful participation in rehearsals and performances will result in
the student’s ability to:
1. Execute to a high degree the proper
vocal attitude and posture of a
proficient
singer.
2. Perform in the ensemble using correct
tone, diction, interpretation, and
overall
choral musicianship appropriate to each work.

METHODS OF INSTRUCTION AND LEARNING:
Rehearsal, individual
practice,
and performance.
VIII.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND EVALUATION
METHODS: Choir members
are required to attend all rehearsals and performances. Excused
absences
will be scheduled in advance; all other absences will be considered unexcused unless an extreme emergency exists. Three (3) unexcused absences will result in losing one letter grade on the final grade for the class. Positive attitudes and 100% participation are mandatory! Also required is attendance at two concerts on the LMU Community Concert Series.
IX.
REHEARSAL/PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE:
Regular rehearsals are
MWF
12:00-12:50. Performances will be
Handel’s Messiah (Part 1 and Hallelujah Chorus) with Tri-State Community Chorus
and Knoxville strings.
