PREREQUISITES:
Previous choral experience is desirable but not mandatory, and a love of choral music is a necessity.
IV.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
A choral ensemble dedicated to the performance of quality literature
of all periods and styles. The choir is a group effort in which the
conductor and singers interact in response to the beauties of music and poetry, all culminating in a public choral concert each semester.
V.
TEXT:
Music is supplied free of charge to all LMU students. Community singers pay semester dues of $10.00 to help defray the cost of printed scores.
VI.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Upon successful participation in rehearsals, both sectional rehearsals
and full choir, the student will be able to:
1) Execute to a high degree, the proper vocal attitude and posture
of a proficient singer.
2) Perform with the ensemble the proper choral tone, diction,
choral musicianship, musical articulation, texture, and
interpretation required for each musical composition.

METHODS OF INSTRUCTION AND LEARNING:
Rehearsal, individual practice,
and performance.
VIII.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND EVALUATION METHODS:
Attendance at all rehearsals and performances with a positive choral attitude toward the music, other performers, and the audience will
result in the letter grade of A. Anything other than a positive choral
attitude is unacceptable. Call 6449 in the case of absence.
IX.
REHEARSAL/PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE:
Regular rehearsal time: Monday Evenings, 7:00-9:00 PM,
beginning on Sept. 10.
Performance: Christmas portion of Handel’s oratorio “Messiah.” Date and time TBA
