III.                        COURSE PREREQUISITES:  Previous piano lessons

 

IV.                       COURSE DESCRIPTION:  A studio course utilizing an individual approach to pianistic and

                      musical skills.

 

V.                         TEXT:  None required; Materials obtained on an individual basis

 

VI.                COURSE OBJECTIVES:  Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

 

                             1.  Demonstrate keyboard related skills of sight-reading, harmony, rhythm, articulation,                                               .                                 and interpretation.

2.        Exhibit a general knowledge of piano pedagogy and literature.

 

VII.                      METHODS OF INSTRUCTION AND LEARNING:  Demonstration, individual practice,

                       performance, and concert attendance.

 

VIII.                    COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND EVALUATION METHODS:  One lesson per week.

                       Four (4) documented practice hours per week.  Attendance required except in emergencies

                       or when prior notice of absence has been given.  Attendance required at two (2) events on

                       the LMU Community Concert Series. 

                    .  Grading scale as follows:  A 90-100;  B 80-89;  C 70-79;  D 60-69; F 59-0.
