ANNOUNCEMENTS

Date (January 19) department chairs should begin receiving workload forms from faculty for spring.

University Advancement – new personnel introduction / Pauline Lipscomb, Director of Grant Development.

 

BUSINESS

·        Capstone course for each major: the general education committee will be available for assistance if necessary, i.e., if you have a course that fits, please incorporate some of the learning outcomes, as discussed.

·        Utilization of the ACA Central Library Resources: encouragement to use more of the ACA resources, Tony Krug (ACA) suggested they are available to assist.

·        Reiteration of LMU policy: no early dismissal of international students.

 

ACTIONS

1.      University Studies, within Academic Services, will house and publish as such in the University Catalog the LMU Information Fluency Courses (prefix INFL).

2.      An attached (following synopsis) proposal of policy to be included in the 2007-2008 University Catalog was distributed and approved by the Academic Council.

Proposed Catalog Copy

1.   Developmental or remedial courses are recorded but do not apply to the degree.

2.   All courses and grades are recorded and calculated in hours attempted, hours earned and cumulative G.P.A.

3.   Transfer students who have earned an Associate of Arts degree or an Associate of Science degree in a University Parallel Program (typically consisting of 45-55 semester credit hours of general education course work in the liberal arts disciplines) from an accredited institution are exempt from Lincoln Memorial University’s General Education Core Curriculum Requirements.  Exceptions: (1) Students may be required to complete additional general education course work in order to meet licensure or certification requirements in professional programs.  (2) If the student has the grade of “D” in a course required in the General Education Core or required in the major, the course must be repeated.  The transfer grade of “D” will not apply to LMU’s General Education Core or major requirements. (3) All students are required to complete LNCN 100 Lincoln’s Life and Legacy and LNCN 300 American Citizenship and Civic Life.

4.   Transfer students must meet all degree or program requirements for graduation as outlined in this catalog.

5.   Technical or non-university parallel courses are considered for transfer credit on a course by course basis.

 

Proposed LMU Credit and General Education Core Requirement

LMU courses with a grade of “D” may be counted for the university’s general education requirement.  A cumulative general education program G.P.A. of 2.0 is required for graduation.
