CME & Preceptor Development
Office of Continuing Medical Education and Preceptor Development

"The modest country doctor may furnish you the vital link in your chain, and the simple rural practitioner is often a very wise man." --Thayer, W.S. "Osler, the Teacher," Johns Hopkins Hospital Bulletin, 30:198, 1919.

The mission of the Office of Continuing Medical Education (CME) at LMU-DCOM will remain consistent with the mission of the DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in its commitment to prepare outstanding osteopathic physicians who are committed to the premise that the cornerstone of meaningful existence is service to humanity. Planned educational programs will focus on the health and wellness needs of people within the Appalachian region while emphasizing primary care for underserved rural communities. The Office of CME will invest in quality academic programs for physicians and other health care professionals supported by superior faculty and technology while embracing the principles of holistic care, diversity, and public service as an enduring commitment to responsibility and high ethical standards.

In October 2011, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) awarded Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine a Three-years Category 1CME Sponsor Accreditation for meeting the document survey requirements of the AOA.

Lifelong Learning and CME

“’Do no harm.’ Central to this ethical precept is the notion of competence. In order to perform acceptably those duties related to patient care, the professional must commit to lifelong learning.”
