Admissions
Greetings and welcome to the web page for the Office of
Admissions at Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College
of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM)! We hope that the information
contained at this site will help you gain a better
understanding of our college and answer any questions
that you may have.
LMU-DCOM seeks to attract and train future medical
practitioners to serve the needs of the southern
Appalachian region. Additionally, we hope to address
the looming national crisis in health care, created by a
rapidly-expanding population, by adding highly-qualified
physicians to underserved communities. We seek to
achieve these goals by recruiting bright, hard-working
applicants whose goal is to advance the science and art
of medicine in these locations. It is our firm
conviction that our graduates will be lifelong learners
who will become leaders in their fields of endeavor and
within their communities.
We believe that prospective
students who have an interest in becoming physicians are
mature individuals that are inquisitive, highly
motivated, compassionate and eager to serve humanity.
With this in mind, we believe that the application
process is a meeting amongst professionals with the
ultimate goal being mutual acceptance for mutual
advantage. That is, we seek to learn about one another
to determine if our goals are similar.
Ever mindful of the precariousness
of life and health, medical students have committed
themselves to one of the most demanding of professions.
The decision to pursue such a profession is not, nor
should it be, quick and easy.
Your decision-making process should
be a long maturation process, by which you become
educated about the medical profession, professional
school training and – most importantly – yourself. You
are, after all, considering a career which not only
focuses on health maintenance, but also the inevitable
demise of the human body. The application process will
help you and us to understand if you have the requisite
academic preparation, temperament and desire to become a
physician.
At LMU-DCOM students will receive a rigorous,
demanding and rewarding medical education in a new,
state-of-the-art facility by faculty who are national
leaders in the profession with several decades of
experience. The curriculum is a didactic, systems-based
approach to learning based on the current state of the
ever-expanding knowledge base. Our students will
contribute to our exploration of the cutting edge of
medicine.
Again, welcome to our web page.
If you should have any questions, please feel free to
contact us at your convenience. We look forward to
working with you in this process. Thank you for
your interest in LMU-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine!
