Summer 2014 English Immersion Program

Lincoln Memorial University offers you an opportunity to improve your English and learn more about American culture with the LMU’s Summer 2014 English Immersion Program from July 14 to August 2, 2014.



During these morning and afternoon classes, students will be grouped at various skill levels.  At each level, classes will focus on English grammar, reading, writing, speaking, listening and American history and culture.

8 a.m. – 8:50 a.m.                     Breakfast

9 a.m. – 9:50 a.m.                     Class 1

10 a.m. – 10:50 a.m.                 Class 2

11 a.m. – 11:50 a.m.                 Class 3

Noon – 12:50 p.m.                    Lunch in the Dining Hall

1 p.m. - 1:50 p.m.                      Class 4

2 p.m. - 2:50 p.m.                      Class 5

3 p.m. – 5 p.m.                           Writing Lab/Conversations with Partners/Planned Activities

5 p.m. – 6 p.m.                           Dinner in the Dining Hall

6:30 p.m. – 9 p.m.                     Movie Nights/Field Trips/Sports Activities (swimming, tennis, volleyball)

In addition to daily classes, local weekend excursions will include shuttle bus to Cave Tours and walking trips to Cumberland Gap.  Two bus trips are planned. These trips include one to Knoxville for “Mall and Movie” and a second sightseeing trip to the Smoky Mountain resort of Gatlinburg.


Cost of Summer 2014 English Immersion Program:               $2,991

The program fee covers transportation to and from airport, classes, materials, testing, room, board, travel to cultural activities and entrance fees for cultural activities.  Students will be responsible for airfare and three dinner meals while participating in out-of-town excursions.


Deadline for Receipt of Travel Documents and Payment: June 14, 2014

Payment in full for all group participants and travel documents, including copies of students’ passports, visas and tickets (showing both arrival and departure flights).
