Office of Research, Grants and Sponsored Programs (ORGSP)

Grant Routing and Submission

The ORGSP will assist faculty and staff in identifying, preparing, and managing research, educational, and service grants and other funding opportunities. All proposals which use the name and resources of Lincoln Memorial University and which may result in an award to the University or an award to an individual functioning in a university capacity involving restricted funds must adhere to University policies and procedures for submitting a proposal. The President is the authorizing official to commit the University in all related matters involving grants and sponsored programs.

Life Cycle of a Grant

Proposal Submission

Pre-approval /Proposal Routing

The first step in the grant application process involves the submission of a pre-approval/internal routing form to the ORGSP. The form is intended to provide a notice of intent for ORGSP staff and to assist them with prior planning to facilitate the submission of the proposal. This form is available on the forms and tools page of the ORGSP Website.

All proposals seeking sponsored funding must be processed the ORGSP.

The Office of Research, Grants and Sponsored Programs Pre-Approval Internal Routing Form provides a designated area for the grant’s reviewers to mark their responses to the stated specific categories and allows them to render a decision as to whether the University can support the proposed activities. Signature of the department chair is required before the Office of Sponsored Programs (ORGSP) will accept the form. This form also requires an official signature of approval from the Vice President for Academic Affairs. These signatures will be secured for the applicant by the ORGSP only if the grant is received one week prior to the date to be submitted. This process can be seen more clearly below in Figure 2

Unofficial Proposals

Any proposal not submitted as stipulated in the Policy and Procedures Handbook of the Office of Research, Grants and Sponsored Programs (ORGSP) will be subject to forfeiture. The PI/PD should ensure that every effort is made to follow the stated guidelines. Proposals submitted without the proper University authorization will not be signed after the fact, even if funding is awarded later.
