Upward Bound
Academic Year
The academic year of the Upward Bound program is made up of two components to help not only make students aware of deadlines and events occurring in the Upward Bound program, but to also help prepare them for such events as the ACT/SAT, Career Work Study and the Bridge Program. These components are:
School Visits
Bi-monthly, members of the LMU Upward Bound staff travel to the various target schools to meet with students during part of their lunch period. This time is used to not only make students aware of upcoming deadlines, but to also allow for LMU Upward Bound staff to keep in close contact with the students are on track for college.
Monthly Saturday Sessions
Once a month, we invite our students from the various target schools to the LMU campus. During our half-day session, we provide relevant seminar classes geared toward each grade level, we offer workshops on study skills and life issues that directly affect teens and each student participates in an enrichment class. On these Saturday sessions, we provide transportation from the student's school area to LMU and back to their school.
