Munson To Stay as Student Housing

By: Laura Elliot

For a long time now, there has been word of the Munson House being turned into a business office and no longer being used as residential halls.  The rumor is now being put to bed as word came down this week from the housing department that Munson will remain open as a residence hall.

Laurel Simo, Director of Housing, states it clearly, “There has been talk of turning Munson into something else later down the road, probably not business offices because they are building new business facilities.  But nothing has been put into action.  As of right now, the Munson House will remain residential halls for female freshman next year.”

The Munson House was completed in 1941 and was originally a home management house for women.  After some time, the Munson House became home to senior women majoring in home economics.  Eventually the house became home to female freshman as it is today.

So people can stop questioning whether the rumor is true or not.  Munson House will remain residential halls for the time being.  If a change of plans is in the future, we’ll be sure to write and tell you about it.
