LMU Haiti Relief

The tragedy and suffering taking place in Haiti is on all of our minds. Though it is natural to feel somewhat helpless to assist from such a distance, we do, in fact, have many choices for how to be a part of relieving the chaos and loss that will be unfolding there over the next several weeks and months. We believe that taking no action, however, is not a choice we want to make. When the best built structures in a country collapse, we can only imagine what will surface in the days to come. They need our help.

With this in mind, the Office of Student Services would like to extend a challenge to all students, staff, and faculty.

  • Student Services is collecting funds now. Please bring your monetary donations to Student Services, office 308 or 317. We will send that money along to a relief organization each week.
  • You can also consider contributing what you can afford to a relief organization of your choice. Here are only a few:
  • Lead a fund drive with your local community service organization or place of worship
  • Student organizations (Greeks, Student Athletic teams, SGA, SHARE, SIFE, Lincoln Ambassadors, just to name a few) can begin fund raising efforts – Student Services can assist in sending those donation
  • Contact Student Services with your other ideas and keep us posted on your efforts

In the mean time, let us keep the people of Haiti and their family and friends scattered around the world in our continued thoughts and prayers.
