  • Decision making
In one comprehensive product. Customized with LMU's majors, students' assessment results are matched to career options and majors/programs offered at LMU.

A Completely New Innovative Design

Exploring the Possibilities: In addition to career exploration guided by self-assessment results, students can always research careers by name, by industry, compare any two occupations side by side, and can now explore careers based on their actual declared major or minor areas of study.

Career Readiness: Establishes the baseline. Includes the student’s self described career and educational goals, their academic strengths and weaknesses, career planning status, and their personal development needs.

Self Assessment: Five reliable and valid assessments guide the career exploration process. Students can combine the results of multiple assessments to get more refined results. Students can review their answers and retake any assessment as often as they like. The full battery includes: Work Interest Inventory / Personality Assessment / Skills / Work Values / Leisure Activities

Web Based Portfolio: The portfolio brings everything together into one document. Any element can be updated at any time. Students can generate a customized report that includes only the desired elements. FOCUS 2 contains the most comprehensive occupational and educational information database available. FOCUS 2 has been fully certified in meeting the highest level of standards established by the Association for Computer-Based Systems for Career Information (ACSCI). The FOCUS 2 system conforms to the standards and criteria established by the National Career Development Association and the U.S Department of Labor.

FOCUS was created in 1987 and is a by-product of the IBM Corporation's pioneering work in the development of computer-based career and educational planning systems. The IBM design team was composed of nationally prominent career development educators and theorists, with Dr. Donald Super as chief architect. Other team members included Dr. Roger A. Myers, Dr. David Tiedeman, Dr. David Campbell and Dr. Frank J. Minor of IBM.
