Railsplitters Add To Men’s Hoops Roster
Lincoln Memorial University men’s basketball Head Coach Josh Schertz has been hard at work putting together the missing pieces for the 2008-09 roster.  On Thursday morning, Schertz announced Carlos Sanford, a 6’0” point guard from Durham, North Carolina as the latest addition to the Railsplitter basketball roster.

LMU Men’s Basketball Continues To Reload
Thursday and Friday were both great days for the Lincoln Memorial University men’s basketball program.  After signing Justin Allen (Lithonia, GA), Brandon O’Brien (Stone Mountain, GA), Josh Stanley (Spartanburg, SC) and Tony Martin (West Chester, OH) a week ago, on Thursday and Friday LMU Head Men’s Basketball Coach Josh Schertz added three more signees to the 2008-09 roster.

Schertz To Begin New Era In LMU Men’s Basketball
Following an extensive search that included more than 160 applications, Lincoln Memorial University athletics department officials will announce Thursday morning the addition of Josh Schertz as the University’s new head men’s basketball coach.  Schertz will become the 17th head coach in the program’s storied history that spans nearly 100 years.

Catawba Holds Off Railsplitter Charge For 70-67 Win
After reeling off an 11-4 lead in the first three minutes of Wednesday night’s final home conference game of the year against Catawba College, the Railsplitter men’s basketball team trailed for more then 12 minutes of the first half and for the first fourteen minutes of the second half before coming back to take a 61-60 lead. Mars Hill Defeats Visiting Lincoln Memorial 101-81
Mars Hill snapped a two-game skid as they ran past Lincoln Memorial Wednesday night in Stanford Arena, 101-81. The Lions are now 10-12 overall and 4-6 in the SAC. LMU fell to 8-15 on the season and 1-9 in the league. (Box score)

The men's basketball game between the Brevard College Tornados and the Lincoln Memorial University Railsplitters on Saturday afternoon was full of excitement as the game went down to the wire, with LMU sneaking away from Boshamer Gymnasium with a thrilling 76-75 overtime victory. (Box score)

Railsplitters Outlast Pioneers For First SAC Victory
Lincoln Memorial trailed throughout most of the first half of Wednesday night’s game with Tusculum College before taking the lead with 4:02 remaining in the first stanza and carrying it into the final buzzer to pick up their first South Atlantic Conference victory of the year with a 70-64 margin. (Box score)

Bulldogs Bite Railsplitters
Less than a day and a half after LMU Head Men’s Basketball Coach Hugh Watson announced he would retire after the 2007-08 season, the Bulldogs of Wingate University came to Harrogate and handed the Railsplitters a 99-70 loss to drop Lincoln Memorial to 6-16 on the year and 0-8 in the South Atlantic Conference. Watson To Step Down As LMU Head Men’s Basketball Coach
On Friday morning, Lincoln Memorial University Head Men’s Basketball Coach Hugh Watson announced he will resign following the 2007-08 season.  Watson’s resignation will bring to a close career in coaching that spans more than four decades at virtually every level of the high school and college game.

The Railsplitters received 19 second half points by junior Terry Delaney (Murfreesboro, TN) in Tuesday night’s 85-64 victory over Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina to come away with their first road-win of the year.

Railsplitters Survive Cobra’s Late-Game Bite To Notch First Win Of The Season
The Railsplitter men’s basketball team led the Cobras of Virginia Intermont College by 12 points at halftime and later extended its lead to 21 points with 14:46 to play in Sunday evening’s fourth game of the season.  LMU looked as though they would run away to victory in the second half, but the Cobras struck with a late run that cut the LMU lead to only three points with 2:43 to go.  Eventually, the Railsplitters survived the scare and hit their free throws down the stretch to come away with a 68-58 victory for their first win of the season. Railsplitters Fall To Union In Home Opener
The Lincoln Memorial University men’s basketball team dropped its home opener on Saturday afternoon when the Bulldogs of Union College made the trek south from Barbourville, Kentucky and defeated the Railsplitters 86-68 to drop the LMU men to 0-3 on the year.  (Box score)

The Railsplitter basketball team's 12 point 82-70 loss to Bellarmine University on Sunday puts the Lincoln Memorial men at 0-2 on the year however, LMU Head Coach Hugh Watson believes his team is showing a good deal of progress.

From the opening tip of Monday night’s exhibition with the University of Tennessee, the Railsplitters were forced to fight an uphill battle.  The Volunteers scored the opening basket and never looked back, eventually coming away with a 124-61 win over Lincoln Memorial.
