Competition Rules & Guidelines


Information about 2008-09 competition coming soon.

  1. Entire routine cannot exceed three minutes.

  2. The squad must clear the gym floor immediately after the routine.

  3. During the routine, cheerleaders must stay in bounds on the gym floor.

  4. All cheerleaders must enter the gym/performance area in a timely fashion.

  5. All squads should include at least one stunt, at least 40 seconds of dance and at least one cheer.

  6. Stunts will be judged based on the division's abilities (Ex. Division 3 a thigh sit or stand).

  7. Mascots are not allowed to be part of the cheer squad routine.

  8. Routine music must be on CD and submitted to the front desk personnel upon arriving at the arena. It is suggested that sponsors/coaches meet with the competition's music coordinator prior to the squad's performance. Please label CD with squad's name.

  9. If a technical error causes a team's routine to be interrupted, they will have the opportunity to stop the music and begin again immediately.

  10. No voice-overs or words may be recorded to make the teams vocal projection sound louder.

  11. A registration fee for each squad is $125.00, which must be turned in prior to the competition. Please make checks payable to LMU Cheerleaders.

LMU CHEERLEADERS

The LMU Cheerleading program strongly supports our men's and women's basketball teams. Cheerleading scholarships are available to all cheerleaders. Scholarship amounts vary up to $1,000 depending on skill, ability and experience.
