This
is the first trip to the NCAA Tournament for the Lady Railsplitter soccer
team. After thinking the season was over, everyone was pleasantly
surprised when the school received the bid to the South Regional to be held
at Barry University. In the GSC Tournament a few days earlier, LMU
came in as the number one seed and lost to fourth-seed Christian Brothers,
who eventually won the GSC Tournament. This time the Lady
Railsplitters were the number four seed, and ended up defeating the number
one seeded Barry 1-0 in the first overtime and tying number two seed Tampa
(who defeated Montevallo 4-1 in the first round) after two overtimes.
That game was eventually decided on penalty kicks with senior (and Florida
native) Cindy Campbell hitting the bottom right corner of the goal to give
LMU the 4-3 advantage.
The following are some pictures of the trip taken by Dr. Nancy Moody,
Bill Porter, Chris Moss, Mr. Steve Taylor and Mauri Forsblom. When possible,
they are in chronological order. (More photos coming soon)
